Abstract
In this study 147 non-A, non-B hepatitis patients' sera were tested to detect HCV RNA by PCR using 4 primer pairs from the conserved region of 5' NCR, core/E1, NS1 and NS3 of the group 1 HCV viruses. 106 cases (72.1%) were positive by 5' NCR
primer
pairs, it can be devided into 6 subtypes by 4 primer pairs. We have sequenced 5' NCR of 12 samples selected from each 6 subtypes. Among 12 samples, 8 were belong to group 1 HCV and 4 were to group 2 HCV, especially type 3 HCV. It has been
revealed
3
types of HCV are cocirculating in Korea.
Furthermore, 94 family members of 31 HCV hepatitis patients were surveyed anti-HCV antibodies. Anti-HCV antibodies were found from 6 (6.4%) tamily members. Anti-HCV antibodies positive ratio of spouses, childern, sibling were 12.9%, 2.3%, 6.25%,
respectively. Group of spouses are highest risk group among family members of HCV hepatitis patients, and this result indicate that sexual contact is one of important transmission route of HCV.
